| The Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) is pleased to announce a breakfast briefing with Ms. Ann Bacher (New) Senior Commercial Officer U.S. Embassy Cairo Thursday, July 19, 2012 Washington, D.C. Biographical Information Ann Bacher is preparing for her new post as Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo. She most recently served as Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. She has spent over twenty years with the U.S. Foreign and Commercial Service. From 2005 to 2008, Ms. Bacher served as Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Thailand, where she worked with U.S. companies interested in doing business in Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. Prior to that post, she served as Regional Director for Asia Pacific at the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. In this capacity she was responsible for all U.S. Department of Commerce operations from Seoul to Sydney. This includes the largest Commercial Service post, China, with 20 officers and 80 local staff. Prior to her arrival in Washington in 2001, Ms. Bacher served as Commercial Counselor of the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv with business development and export promotion responsibilities in Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Beginning in 1997, Ms. Bacher served as Director of the U.S. Trade Center in Mexico City. Prior to that, she served as Senior Commercial Officer in Peru and Deputy Senior Commercial Officer in Chile. She has worked as an international economist and trade specialist for the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C.; New York City; and Hartford, CT. Prior to joining the Commerce Department, she worked for an international bank after receiving her MBA from Baylor University. |
