Please contact Daniela McFarren at d-mcfarren@bciu.org or at 202-595-2670 for more information*** BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION Ms. Ellen Lenny-Pessagno will begin her assignment as the new Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Santiago, Chile in July 2012. Ms. Lenny-Pessagno is a Career Diplomat, and previously served as a Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, Spain. She also served in the Houston US Export Assistance Center. From 2002 to 2005, Ms. Lenny-Pessagno was the Consul for Commercial Affairs at the US Consulate in Monterrey, Mexico. Prior to her assignment in Monterrey, Ms. Lenny-Pessagno served as Commercial Attaché for five years in the US Embassy in Argentina. She received an Innovation Award from the Director General for this contribution as well as one for the design and implementation of a website that promotes US products and services to Latin American buyers. Ms. Lenny-Pegasso was also awarded the prestigious Bronze Medal for her role in the negotiation of a bi-lateral e-commerce agreement between Argentina and the United States. Ms. Lenny-Pessagno began her career with the Commercial Service in Washington, DC, in 1992. She initially organized trade missions to Latin America and Asia for State Economic Development Agencies. Later, Ms. Lenny-Pessagno was promoted to Associate Director in the Office of International Operations. In 1996, Ms. Lenny-Pessagno was awarded a scholarship by the International Trade Administration to participate in the Federal Government’s Women’s Executive Leadership Program. Ms. Lenny-Pessagno entered the government after a five-year career in marketing with Simon and Schuster and Macmillan. Ms. Lenny-Pessagno earned a Masters Degree in International Commerce and Policy from George Mason University in 1992 and a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Wake Forest University in 1987.
