Portfolio Pillar: HIV/AIDS
For nearly a decade, BCIU has convened stakeholders to celebrate progress and continue the effort toward eliminating the global threat of HIV/AIDS. Our programming brings together the global HIV/AIDS community, governments, private sector, multilateral organizations, donors and foundations, civil society, and academia together for advocacy and awareness building gatherings and action-oriented fora.
BCIU’s HIV/AIDS programming is aimed at achieving several outcomes, including:
- Encouraging stakeholders to recommit to ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030;
- Strengthening health systems;
- Sharing information and best practices, and addressing knowledge gaps, on how new innovations and tools can drive equitable access to prevention, screening, and treatment including on key populations still being left behind;
- Motivating political will and commitments using UNAIDS data and reporting; and
- Mobilizing resources and expertise for the Global Fund and others.
In 2024, we will be delivering HIV/AIDS programming during the following global gatherings:
- The African Union Head of State Summit (February, Addis Ababa)
- The World Health Assembly (May, Geneva)
- The International AIDS Conference (July, Munich)
- The United Nations General Assembly (September, New York City)
- World AIDS Day (December, Washington, DC)
