Trade Facilitation

Turbocharging trade and development require access to high-level foreign opportunities and specialized market insights. BCIU uses its extensive, longstanding relationships with governments around the world, multilateral agencies, and the private sector to help businesses worldwide. BCIU enjoys decades and millions of dollars’ worth of success stories.

Capacity Building

BCIU operates at the intersection of the public sector and corporate audiences, serving as a reliable partner for growing international trade and foreign direct investment. Whether the work requires connecting with a specific multinational corporation or an entire industry, BCIU uses its global advisors and extensive, well-established network of private-sector connections to drive cooperation and partnerships between businesses and the public sector.

I have worked with the Business Council for International Understanding – and its leader Peter Tichansky -- for more than 20 years in my capacity as a Commerce Department Foreign Service Officer, and more recently during my service in Washington. BCIU serves a unique and vital role in serving as a convener and bridge between senior government officials (both U.S. and foreign) and top U.S. business leaders…. The recent Smart Cities Virtual Trade Mission we did with BCIU – drawing over 150 participants – was a superb example of BCIU’s reach into the upper echelons of U.S. companies. Keep it up, BCIU!

Contracts

BCIU is a leader in facilitating government contracts, beginning with our longstanding partnership with the U.S. government, including agencies such as the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). Our work centers on designing, implementing, marketing and managing trade visits, conferences and training programs. Our programs focus on building capacity and opportunities for foreign investment across every industry from energy to telecommunications, aviation, and healthcare.

The management of the 2018 Philippines Cybersecurity RTM gave insight into how adroit and efficient BCIU is in staging successful Site Visits and Business Briefings for such a diverse delegation composition as this one was. Scheduling and logistics allowed for maximum relationship building and information sharing while avoiding message redundancy and mission ‘burn-out’.
